Protect your penis…………….
As the penis is pretty much all mens prize and joy, so I am going to let you in on some secrets on the best ways to protect it!!
Crack on
Start your day with an egg to end it on a high. Eggs’ B vits are essential for sex drive and erectile strength but stress can deplete your levels. Scramble before you hit the office.
Just soy no
Soy milk isn’t better than cow juice, despite what the hipsters say. A Harvard study found the sperm counts of men using soy were 41m/ml lower than normal. That’s a lot of little yous to lose over your cereal.
A glass act
Throw out your Tupperware. A Reproductive Toxicology study found exposure to BPA in plastic can cut your sperm concentration by 23%. Nuke lunches in glassware.
Lift on empty
Peeing before you push stops urine being forced into your testicles, which the Uro Center of New York says causes epididymitis with painful swelling. Not the kind of growth you were after.
Dynamic duo
While 99.9% of penis-related pills are a con, a Fertility and Sterility study found the testicular tag team of zinc (£5.50 tesco.com) and folate (£8 hollandandbarrett.com) improves your percentage of healthy sperm – no scam.

Choose blue
Attack the cheese board after dinner. Research in the Journal of Applied Physiology says the fats in roquefort can boost your testosterone levels and sex drive.
Trade in type 2
Diabetes can leave you numb between the legs: Diabetes Voice says up to 58% of male sufferers are impotent. Keep your sugar levels in check by swapping starchy carbs for broccoli and spinach.
Booze snooze
Think twice when offered another pint down the pub. One study found 10 beers in one night can lower T-levels by 23% and leave you limp under the sheets long after the hangover clears.
Wi-Fry zone
Late night laptop use can kill more than your sleep cycle. Human Reproduction found it raises scrotal temperatures by 2.5°C, which can zap your fertility. Log off at work; there are better things to do in bed.
Deep clean
Shower time is serious for uncircumcised men. The American Cancer Society says smegma (sorry, official terminology) under the foreskin increases your risk of penile cancer. Scrub up.
The big C TLC
Supermarket shelves are your pharmacy when it comes to preventing testicular cancer. The beta-carotene in carrots has incredible anticancer effects. Its efficacy in cake form is yet unconfirmed.
Kick the habit
Forget the gruesome adverts, this fact is sure to scare you off cigarettes. Researchers at Boston Uni found blood vessel damage makes smokers’ erections significantly shorter – no smoke and mirrors.
Stop premature ejaculation?
Premature ejaculation is the most common male sexual dysfunction. Research suggests it affects between 20-30% of men and can cause anxiety, depression and, of course, relationship problems. Obviously every man comes quicker than they would like at some point in their sex lives. And a lot of women have unrealistic expectations on how long they would like men to last.
But it’s only classified as a ‘dysfunction’ if you feel you never have any control and you always come after just a few minutes’ stimulation.
There are three different types of treatment on the market currently. If you opt for psychosexual therapy you will work with a therapist on a behavioral program called ‘stop/start’ which will help you to get better at recognising the ‘point of inevitability’ and changing your technique to delay reaching it.
Alternatively, you can get local anesthetic creams and gels. Durex have are soon to release a new condom range, Performax Intense, which contains benzocaine gel in the tip of the condom, designed to delay orgasm. If your problem is severe, your GP can prescribe a drug which slows down your ejaculatory response.
All of these treatments have been proven to work, to a lesser or greater degree, but all have their drawbacks. Psychosexual therapy is time consuming and it can be difficult to find a sex therapist in your area. Local anaesthetics reduce sensitivity (and that of your partner) rather than build tolerance to higher arousal. Plus, all drugs have side effects.
The newbie treatment on the market is a small vibrating device that you use at home in conjunction with stop/start techniques to increase ejaculatory control. It comes with full instructions and two independent clinical trials found men who used it three times a week as part of a six-week program lasted an average of 11 times longer. The obvious advantages are ease of use and no side effects. The only downside is you can’t guarantee the results will transfer to the next time you’re having penetrative sex with a partner.
My advice would be that, whatever you choose, talk to your partner about it and make sure she’s on board with helping you do your homework. In my professional experience, the most successful technique for lasting longer is open communication with a partner who is supportive, encouraging and wants to help you take your time.
