PUPAID

I am so looking forward to @pupaid this year at Primrose Hill for those of you that don’t know Pupaid is

The UK’s biggest anti-puppy farming event is back bigger and better than before!

Now in its fourth year, PupAid will once again be in the leafy doggy paradise of north London’s Primrose Hill, part of The Royal Parks, and promises a jam-packed day of fun for all the family – and our faithful four-legged friends – with trade stalls, delicious fresh food, music and Scruffs heats judged by some famous faces.

But more importantly it’s about saving lives, puppy lives to be exact, and with enough awareness about the cruel farming trade, PupAid – which is backed by celebrities including Meg Mathews, Simon Cowell, Lizzie Cundy, Kerry Ellis, Krystal Niles, Hollyoaks’ stars Gemma Merna and Kieron Richardson, EastEnders’ stars Rita Simons and Patsy Palmer, actress Danniella Westbrook and singer Jay Kay – hopes to make a difference and put an end to this barbaric practice once and for all.

Puppy farming is the mass commercial production of puppies purely for profit and without a thought for the welfare or happiness of the pup, breeding bitch or stud dogs. They are usually kept in horrific, dark, cramped conditions that are riddled with diseases, many of which are infectious, inbred and often incurable.

These poor pups are then sold en masse to pet shops, through newspaper ads or unauthorised websites and those who don’t die soon after reaching their new home usually require thousands of pounds worth of medical, surgical and/or behavioural treatment to fix them causing even more pain, suffering and heartbreak for both pups and families.

You can get involved and help support this and go along in September simply head over to PupAid also be sure to follow @pupaid and @marcthevet who I’m sure you will recognise from TV and lets put a stop to Puppy Farming…

About International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day has been observed since in the early 1900’s, a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies.

Much has changed since then, and IWD is now an official holiday in many countries. The new millennium has witnessed a significant change and attitudinal shift in both women’s and society’s thoughts about women’s equality and emancipation.

Many from a younger generation feel that ‘all the battles have been won for women’ while many feminists from the 1970’s know only too well the longevity and ingrained complexity of patriarchy. The unfortunate fact is that women are still not paid equally to that of their male counterparts, women still are not present in equal numbers in business or politics, and globally women’s education, health and the violence against them is worse than that of men.

However, great improvements have been made. And so the tone and nature of IWD has, for the past few years, moved from being a reminder about the negatives to a celebration of the positives.

Annually on 8 March, thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements. A global web of rich and diverse local activity connects women from all around the world ranging from political rallies, business conferences, government activities and networking events through to local women’s craft markets, theatrical performances, fashion parades and more.

Many global corporations have also started to more actively support IWD by running their own internal events and through supporting external ones
