Annes Rocket has slipped back down a handy mark and with the cheekpieces refitted looks cracking each-way value at 10/1 is the finale at Kempton tonight (5.10).

Jimmy Fox’s charge was a dual winner last year, beating Buckland – who is now rated 98 on the all-weather – in a class 5 contest at Sandown off a mark of 62 and Mother Jones in a class 5 contest at Bath off a mark of 67.

The eight-year-old started thsi season on a mark of 73 as a result of that last success, and was far from disgraced off it when fourth of 13 to Clear Spring in a class 4 contest at Bath.

He then wasn’t at his best next time up at Sandown, but has run far better in three runs since.

The eight-year-old was beaten just a short-head in a class 5 contest at Salisbury over 7f, and then came third to Crimson Queen at Bath off 73 after being slowly away.

That was followed by a fair fifth of 10 to Greensward in a 7f claimer at Wolverhampton last time out, and the fourth home that day Bunce has come out and won since.

The handicapper has since dropped him a further 2lb to a mark of 64, and that means that he is now 3lb lower than when last successful.

It gives him a big shout at the weights in this class 6 contest, and what is interesting is that connections are refitting him with the cheekpieces.

They have been absent on his last three starts (wore blinkers last time) but he sported them when notching his last two successes.

Another plus is that he has a course and distance win to his name, and Pat Dobbs who rode him to his last success is now back in the saddle.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Annes Rocket (10/1 Betfred, Hills – BOG)
