Rior has run some of his best races at Wincanton and makes plenty of appeal at 11/1 in the 1.20 there today.

Paul Henderson’s gelding notched his sole career success over course and distance in December 2013 when staying on gamley to beat Lumpy’s Gold by 3/4 of a length off a mark of 100.

He then ran well for a long way in a competitive class 3 contest at Ascot won by Bygones Sovereign off 106 until coming to grief at the last, and is abale to race in this class 4 affair off 102.

That is just 2lb higher than when last successful, and Rior comes into the contest on the back of a solid 1 3/4 lengths third to Postive Vibes at this venue over 2m 4f and now meets that rival on 7lb better terms.

It was an effort which suggested his time was near, and the step back up to 2m 6f this afternoon looks sure to suit.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Rior (10/1 BetVictor, Coral, Labdrokes, Paddy Power, Stan James, William Hill – BOG)
