Unicorn scored in good style last time out and looks worth a wager at 10/1 on handicap debut 10/1 in the 4.40 at Listowel today.
The four-year-old had some decent form on the level when trained by Aidan O’Brien, finishing a cracking third of 13 to Wall Of Fire in a valuable Melrose Stakes at York last year off a rating of 95 on his final start.
He then joined Joseph O’Brien and came good at the third time of asking over the obstacles when landing a 9-runner maiden hurdle at Downpatrick last month.
Despite making a mistake five out and at the last, Unicorn stayed on strongly between horses on the run-in to forge clear and beat Iolani by four lengths.
Unicorn has been allotted an opening handicap mark of 121 on the back of that victory and that looks exploitable in relation to his flat rating.
He also looks the type that could take off now going down the handicap route and should handle testing conditions having finsihed third on soft ground on racecourse debut.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Unicorn (10/1 bet365, BetVictor, Boylesports, Paddy Power, William Hill – BOG)
