Burnhope run off a career-low mark in the 4.20 at Brighton today and makes plenty of each-way appeal at 12/1 having shaped as if coming back to form last time out.

Scott Dixon’s charge registered his last victory at Kempton back in January 2013, where he beat Profile Star by a neck off a mark of 70 in a class 4 contest.

He now gets into this lower grade class 6 affair of 17lb lower, and that gives him a huge chance from a handicapping perspective if putting his best foot forward.

It’s fair to day that he has been very disappointing this year, but he did show that all was not lost when shaping well over 6f at Nottingham three starts back when third of of 14 to Prigsnov Dancer in an apprentice race.

The five-year-old showed plenty of early dash to chase the leaders that day before keeping on well to be beaten 5 3/4 lengths, but then failed to build on that effort  at the same venue when a well beaten 11th of 16 to Medam.

However, the Ontoawinner syndicate owned gelding quickly left that effort well behind when stepped back up to 7f last time otu at Leicseter and finishing third of 12 to Sophies Beau.

Burnhope showed  plenty of pace to chase he leaders that day and kept on well to be beaten 2 1/4 lengths, only losing second close home.

If he can build on that then he is undoubtedly dangerously well-handicapped and weighted to go well at a track which may well suit.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Burnhope (12/1 bet365, BetVictor, Coral, Stan James, William Hill – BOG)
