Lastchancelucas runs off a career-low mark in the 5.15 at Ponetfract today and makes plenty of appeal at 12/1 now eased in grade.
Declan Carroll’s gelding is a course and distance winner who was last successful back in May when beating Tax Free in a competitive 18-runner class 4 contest at Thirsk off a mark of 78.
He got put up to 82 for that success and has subsequntly failed to trouble the judge in seven starts.
However his mark has fallen as a result, and he now gets dropped into class 5 company for the first time in his career off a rating of just 74.
That gives the four-year-old major claims from a handicapping perspective, and he showed plenty of pace last time out at Doncaster before weakening inside the final furlong to finish a 6 3/4 length 16th oif 20 to Expose.
This is easier, and with Neil Farley in the saddle taking another 3lb off his back Lastchancelucas is simply too well-treated to ignore.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Lastchancelucas (12/1 Betfred, Wiliam Hill – BOG)
