Silver Alliance has dropped to a mark which he is capable of exploiting and looks worth chancing at 18/1 in the 2.30 at Brighton.
Walter swinburn’s charge looked the type to do well in handicaps when winning at Wolverhampton on his second start as a juvenile but has so far failed to cut any ice this season.
However having started the campaign on a mark of 76 he is now down to 67 and has shaped with far more encouragement in his latest two starts.
He stayed on in eye-catching fashion at Wolverhampton after missing the kick to finish a never nearer fifth of 12 to Needwood Ridge in a 7f contest, and backed that up with a similar run when fifth of 9 at Nottingham over a mile.
On both occasions he was not knocked about, and connections are now trying him without the visor having got him back down to a workable mark.
If he can build on his latest efforts there is little doubt in my mind that he is weighted to play a leading role in this contest, and with the promising Sean Levey taking off another 3lb this represents the best opening he has had for some time.
At 18/1 he looks overpriced and excellent each-way value.
