Elle Woods was an extremely unlucky loser last time out and rates a solid bet at 3/1 to gain compensation in the 5.05 at Carlisle today.

Michael Dods’ filly created a good impression when scoring on her debut at Newcastle as a juvenile last year, where after dwelling at the start she came with a sustained run to beat Boom And Bloom by 1/2 a length.

Although she then failed to get her head in front in four subsequent starts she was far from disgraced in three of those and looked as good as ever when third of 7 to Off Art on her seasonal reappearance at Doncaster, where she kept on nicely from off the pace to be beaten 3 lengths without being knocked about off a mark of 78.

The winner has since gone on to score again off a mark of 89, and although the selection was then well beaten on her next starts at Pontefract she bounced right back to her best when going down by a head to Penny Garcia over course and distance last time out.

The daughter of Lawman travelled really strongly throughout that contest at the rear of the field before finding herself with nowhere to go when trying to make her challenge up the straight.

In the end she had to be switched to the outside to deliver her challenge, but by the time she had got out the winner had gained first run.

To her credit she flew home once seeing daylight, and there is little doubt in my mind that she would have won with a bit to spare granted better luck in running.

She now gets into this off 1lb lower, and that gives her an outstanding chance at the weights as she is in effect a winner without a penalty and due to go up 6lb to a mark of 82 in the near future.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts win Elle Woods (3/1 BetVictor – BOG)
