33/1 Oratory too well-treated to ignore

Oratory races of a career-low mark in the 4.15 at Leicester today and looks worth a small each-way play at 33/1.

Noel Quilan’s charge hasn’t been at his best in two recent spins on the all-weather after 126 days on the sidelines, but is now on a dangerous mark of 68 returned the the turf.

The gelding hasn’t always been the most straightforward, but he landed back-to-back contests in June last year and is very well-weighted on those efforts.

In the first of those he ran on strongly to beat Lindoro by 1/2 a length at Carlisle off 72, and he then followed up in good style when beating Ellijah Pepper by a length at Ayr off 75.

Prior to those successes he had also run well to finish fifth of 20 to Alfred Hutchinson in a class 4 apprentice handicap off 73, and if he can bounce back to that type of form then he would have a big shout in this having been rated as high as 96 at his best.

Given his connections it will be interesting to see how he goes in the market and if the money did come for him it would be highly significant.

However at 33/1 he is simply too well-treated to let go unbacked, and although backing him clearly comes with risks attached it looks a risk worth taking at the odds on offer.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 1pts each-way Oratory (33/1 Stan James – BOG)
