Fastar disappointed last time out but looks worth a bet at 6/1 to bounce back and land the spoils in the 4.40 at Chester today now returned to the turf.

Brian Meehan’s charge enjoyed a productive 2017 when winning three times, rounding off the campaign with back-to-back successes at Sandown and Haydock. The last of those came off a mark of 83.

Although now 6lb higher in the weights he ran a cracker off 1lb hugher on return to action at Sandown where he raced keenly before keeping on to finish a 2 3/4 length fourth of 13 to Chiefofchiefs in a class 3.

Fastar backed that up with a solid effort in a class 2 affair at Newcastle when sixth of 15 to Humbert where he held every chance inside the final furlong before weakening late on to be beaten just over a length.

He then ran too bad to be true when last of five on the poltrack at Chelmsford 19 days ago but all his best form – and wins – have come on the turf.

A repeat of his aforementioned Sandonw effort would be good enough to see him win this weaker looking class 3 affair and Oisin Muprhy is now back in the saddlle for just the sceond time having been beaten just a short-head on him 12 months ago at Leicester.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Fastar (6/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
