Lady Poppy shaped really well on seasonal reappearance and makes plenty of appeal at 7/1 in the 2.35 at Catterick today.

The mare kept on from off the pace to finish a never nearer 1 1/2 length fourth of 13 to Lazy Sioux over course and distance, leaving the impression that she was ring rusty and needed the outing.

That run should have blow the cobwebs and put her spot on, and off a rating of 60 she is just 2lb higher than when last successful at Thirsk when showing plenty of pace before staying on strongly to beat Mr Mo Jo by 3/4 of a length in a 17-runner affair.

It gives the five-year-old every chance at the weights, and another plus is that she has course and distance winning form to her name.

Lady Poppy has also bagged a good draw in stall 2, and with Kieran Schofield in the saddle taking off another 7lb looks weighted to take all the beating.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Lady Poppy (7/1 bet365, BetVictor, Paddy Power – BOG)
