Mutafaakir is back down to his last winning mark and looks worth a wager at 8/1 in the 4.35 at Nottigham today after shaping as if coming back to form alst time out.

Ruth Carr’s gelding was last successful in a class 3 contest at Ayr back in July when making all and running on strongly to beat Jinky by 3/4 of a length off a mark of 79.

He followed that up with a solid third at Catterick off 82, and after two slightly below par efforts ran really well to finish 9th of 20 to Expose at Doncaster earlier in the month.

The five-year-old showed plenty of pace at Town Moor and held every chance at the furlong marker until being unable to find any extra near the finish to be beaten 3 1/4 lengths.

The winner, to whom he was conceding 4lb, has since gone on to land the Ayr Bronze Cup off 82 to give the form a boost and Mutafaakier has subsequentlky been dropped another 1lb by the assessor.

He is now back on 79, the same as when last successful, and if he can build on his latest effort has every chance at the weights of landing the spoils.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Mutafaakir (8/1 Betfred, Boylesports – BOG)
