Mick Easterby’s City Ground looks decent value at 9/1 in the 5.00 at Stratford now that he has his favoured fast ground.
The gelding disappointed here last time up when he was pulled up after making errors, but the rain had got into the ground that day and he never seemed to be travelling with the same fluency as when previously winning at this venue lat month.
The five-year-old jumped well that day on good ground and after being held up at the rear crept into contention two from home to track the leader approaching the last.
He was then driven to take the lead in the final 100 yards by Jake Greenall to win going away by 2 3/4 lengths from Mon Chevalier.
The manner of his victory suggested that he had tons more up his sleeve, and although he is now 6lb higher in the weights off 104 he still looks potentially well-treated given that he was rated as high as 117 over hurdles.
I certainly think he is worth a chance to prove that his running last time was all wrong, and with his stable in good form and ground which he will relish he looks good each-way value at the odds on offer
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way City Ground (9/1 Betfred, Paddy Power – BOG, Stan James)
