9/1 Lisheen Hill looks terrific at Taunton

The lightly raced and unexposed Lisheen Hill makes plenty of appeal at 9/1 in the 1.10 at Taunton today.

The gelding is an Irish pint winner who shaped with plenty of promise in four runs over hurdles last season after joining Richard Philips.

He was not knocked about when finishing fourth in novice hurdles at Kempton and Sedgefield, and then caught the eye in handicaps at Doncaster and Southwell.

In the first of those he could find no extra late on after being held-up off the pace and making good headway to hold every chance before the last before weakening to finish a 6 1/4 length seventh of 19 to Harvey’s Hope off a mark of 108.

He was not unduly kncoked about once it was clear he would not be winning, and he then ran really well next time up when finishing third of 9 to Mr Puck over today’s trip at Southwell.

The seven-year-old got headed at the third last that day and after a mistake at the next flight weakened to be beaten 22 lengths.

However he ran better than that suggests and finished 1/2 a length in front of Minella For Steak (from whom he was receiving 4lbs) who has since gone on to score twice and is now officially rated 126.

That makes the selection look fairly treated in this off 105, and although he failed to cut any ice on his recent reappearance at Warwick when finishing 9th of 14 to Swining Hawk he shaped as if badly in need of the run after 275 days on the sidelines.

He is entitled to come on a bundle with that run under his belt and with Wayne Hutchinson in the saddle looks overpriced for a horse that remains relatively unexposed and should be up to winning races of this nature off his current mark.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts each-way Lisheen Hill (9/1 Betfred, Boylesports, BetVictor, Hills, Paddy Power – BOG)
