Gabbiano is back down to his last winning mark and is rates a solid et at 9/2 to take advantage in the 5.00 at Ascot now dropped in grade.

Jeremy Gask’s charge did well last year when winning three sprint handicaps, with his last success coming off a mark of 85 over 5f at this venue.

He went on to finish an excellent fourth of 16 to Dungannon, again at this track, off a mark of 89 where after being held-up off the pace he stayed on to be beaten just 1 1/4 lengths.

The six-year-old now gets into this off 85, the same as when last successful, having shaped well in three starts this season.

In the first of those he caught the eye when sixth of 15 to Blessington over course and distance.

After being held-up in the last pair, he made headway to chase the leaders two from home, and then hung left under pressure at the furlong pole as lack of fitness took it’s toll and could find no extra.

Gabbiano then ran better than his finishing position suggests when sixth of 13 at Doncaster , racing keenly and weakening to be beaten 3 1/2 lengths.

He then again caught the eye last time out over 6f when staying on late from off the pace to finish a 2 3/4 length fifth of 15 to Shore Step, and should now be spot on to do himself justice.

The drop into class 4 company also offers him the easiest opportunity he has had for some time, and it is also the grade in which he was last successful.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts win Gabbiano (9/2 Boylesports – BOG)
