African Trader looks worth an each-way wager at 14/1 in the 3.255 at Sputhwell today on his first start for Ivan Furtado.

The gelding shaped shaped quite nicely on debut when trained by Mark Loughnane and a not knocked about 7 1/2 length ninth of 13 to the now 99-rated Edward Lewis at Doncaster.

He backed that up with a fair third to Zwayyan at Lingfield when keeping on to be beaten 6 1/4 lengths.

The winner has won four times since to be rated 96 and the second home Thundering Blue is rated 93.

Having started life off in handicpas off a rating of 65, African Trader is now able to race off just 57.

It makes him potentially well-treated on the aforementioned runs for a yard that has a 21% strike rate at the track in the past 12 months.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way African Trader (14/1 bet365, BetVictor, Stan James, William Hill – BOG)
