Al Furat has been given a massive chance by the handicapper and is strongly fancied at 6/1 to take advantage and land the 5.40 at Redcar today.
Both the gelding’s win have come at this track, scoring over today’s trip in September 2011 off a mark of 54 by an easy 4 1/2 lengths and over 1m 1f last June where he won off a rating of 63.
Since then he has been a bit git and miss, but Ronald Barr’s charge has posted a couple of solid efforts this season to be placed off marks of 58 and 60 and now gets into this off 57.
That gives him outstanding claims at the weights and it would be no surprise to see him bounce back from a disappointing effort last time out now returned to a track which he clearly reserves his best for.
He also now gets the cheekpieces fitted for the first time, and if they have the desired effect there is little doubt that he is weighted to go in again and he rates the best bet on the card.
