Ascot De Bruyere has shaped on several occasions this season and looks worth siding with at 7/1 in the 2.45 at Ayr today from what looks a handy mark.

The ex-French trained gelding made a perfect start for Scottish handler James Ewart when making all to land a maiden hurdle at Musselburgh by 4 1/2 lengths.

Ascot De Bruyere then failed to shine on his next start at Uttoxeter back in March, but there was lots to like about his chase debut on return to action over 2m at Sedgefield in October when third to Volvalien.

After being held-up, the six-year-old made good headway two from home and stuck to the task really well to be beaten just 1 1/2 lengths off a rating of 115.

He backed backed that up with a fair third at Huntingdon off 117 and was also far from disgraced when fourth at this venue before finishihing a fine second at Kelso last time out.

Ascot De Bruyere is able to race in this off an unchanged mark of 114 and on the pikc of his form should be up yo winning a race of this natire of that rating.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Ascot De Bruyere (7/1 bet365, BetVictor, Ladbrokes, William Hill – BOG)
