Aussie Reigns appeals at 20s

Posted on by Dave Metcalf

Aussie Reigns has shown enough to suggest he is worth chancing at 20/1 on his nursery debut in the 4.20 at Goodwood.

Bill Knight’s colt was well beaten on his debut at this track behind the very useful Olympic Glory, but did show good speed and had every chance a furlong out before weakening badly.

Te duly stepped up on that effort next time out when finishing a 3 1/2 lengths 6th of 11 to Boomshakerlacker at Newmarket, and then really caught the eye last time up at Epsom when a never nearer fourth of 8 to Whipper’s Boy.

The son of Aussie Rules didn’t seem to handle the track that day, but was not knocked about and looks the type to do better now handicapping.

His opening mark of 70 means that he creeps into this at the foot of the weights, and th booking of promising apprentice Darren Egan certainly catches the eye.

He is tremendous value for his 5lb claim, and it would be no surprise to see the selection make the most of the weight he gets from his rivals and run a huge race at big odds.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Aussie Rules (20/1 BetVictor, Boylesports, Ladbrokes, Paddy Power – BOG)
