Ayaar has been cut some slack by the handicapper and with Ryan Moore in the saddle for the first time looks decent value at 14/1 in the 5.00 at Newmarket today.

The colt was a useful juvenile, finishing a 3 3/4 length third of 10 to Toronado on his second start before going on to land a hat-trick.

The last of those successes saw him score by 2 lengths in a Group 3 contest at Baden Baden off a rating of 90 and he then went on to finish fifth of 7 to Dawn Approach in a Group 1 at the Curragh off an official rating of 102.

The son of Rock Of Gibraltar then put in a cracking run on his seasonal reapearance in the European Free Handicap at Newamrket where he ran on strongly to finish a never nearer 3 3/4 length fourth of 10 to the classy Garswood.

He was then well beaten in a Group 2 in Cologne but quickly bounced back with a decent run at Royal Ascot to finish 10th of 27 to Roca Tumu (beaten 6 1/2 lengths) in the Britannia off a mark of 100.

The three-year-old then wasn’t disgraced when fifth of 8 to Breden at Newmarket and the put in a fine effort over at Chester when finishing well to be third of 10 to Corespondent off 95.

MickChannon’s chrage was then not at his best when well beaten at Chester put quickly left that run behind when a decent 4 length 7th of 17 to Brownsea Brink over a mile here last time out where he held every chance at the furlong marker before veing unable to find any extra.

The handicapper has dropped him 2lb since that run to a mark of 93, and that gives him major cliams in this on the pick of his form.

The drop back to 7f, over which he has won three of his 7 starts, is another plus and the booking of Moore suggests a huge run is expected.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Ayaar (14/1 Ladbrokes)
