Betty Grable has caught the eye on more than one occason and makes plenty of appeal at 13/2 on handicap debut in the 3.15 at Catterick today.
Wilf Storey’s filly has had three quick runs in maidens, and went into my notebook on the second of those over 7f at Redcar where keeping on nicely to finish fifth of 10 to Bassmah under tender handling after dewlling at the start.
She backed that up with a similar effort over 6f at Dincaster when a never nearer 4 length sixth of 14 to Equitation over 6f.
The fourth and seventh home in that race, Katheefa and Nuns Walks, have both come out and won since off official ratings of 71 and 64.
It makes an opening mark of 60 look exploitable for Betty Grable and she has clearly been brought alomg with handicaps in mind.
The step back up to 7f is sure to suit and another plus is that she has the services of Sammy Jo Bell in the saddle who takes off another 3lb wit her claim.
In receipt of weight from all her rivals she looks primed to run a huge race.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Betty Grable (13/2 Coral, Ladbrokes – BOG)
