Biotic worth siding with on handicap debut

Rod Millman has his team in good shape, and Biotic makes plenty of appeal at 17/2 on his handicap debut in the 4.00 at Kempton today.

The son of Aqlaam hinted that he had ability in three maiden runs last season without troubling the judge, and caught the eye in the last of those in a 6f contest on soft ground at Newbury.

Although finishing just 7th of 12 to Black Caesar he was never out into the race at any stage before keeping on under tender handling to be beaten 11 lengths.

It was an effort which suggested he was being brought along with handicaps in mind, and he has the physique to do far better as a three-year-old.

He now makes his first venture into handicaps off an opening mark of 55, and that could well be on the lenient side given that the winner of the Newbury race, Black Caesar, is now officially rated 80 and the third horse home that day, Stomp, was rated 76 on his first try in handicaps.

This class 6 contest certainly won’t take much winning, and Biotic is an unexposed sort who should have more to offer this season and be capable of winning races from his lowly mark.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Biotic (17/2 bet365 – BOG)
