Bob ‘N’ You looks to have an outstanding chance at the weights in the 2.35 at Cheltenham and rates the day’s best bet at 7/1.
Ian Williams’ charge was a useful sort over hurdles (rated as high as 137) and found only the subsequent Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up The Giant Bolster too good on his chasing debut.
He was then on the sidelines for 490 days, and was well beaten on his comeback over hurdles before being pulled up in the National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival when rated 131.
However he ran much better on his latest start at Kelso when punted off the boards and looking a tad unfortunate not to land the gamble.
The nine-year-old made a couple of costly errors and was four lengths down at the last before staying on strongly on the long run-in.
He was making stealthy headway when his amateur jockey nearly took the wrong course and the gap at the line was just 2 3/4 lengths.
Whether he would have won is debatable, but it was an effort which suggested he was on his way back and the assessor has now dropped him to a mark of just 116.
That makes him look very well treated from a handicapping perspective, and with Dougie Costello – who partnered him when finishing second to The Giant Bolster – taking over in the saddle everything looks in place for a huge run.
