Byron Blue has often shaped better than his form figures suggest and is strongly fancied at 9/2 to break his duck in the 5.20 at Haydock.
Jamie Osborne’s colt caught the eye last time out when slowly away in a handicap at Yarmouth where he kept on nicely under tender handling to finish 6th of 12 to Somemothersdohavem after being short of room when trying to make a move.
In the end he was beaten just over 4 lengths, and finished just two places behind today’s favourite.
He now meets that rival on exactly the same terms for a 1 3/4 length beating, but given how that race panned out I would expect him to turn the tables.
Prior to that run the selection had also gone into the notebook when keeping on under hands and heels to finish a never nearer sixth of 9 to Quite appeal at Beverley, and he looks the type who definitely has a race of this nature in his locker from his current mark of 65.
Connections seem to have found him a nice opening in a race that lacks any real strength in depth, and at 9/2 he rates the best bet on the card.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Byron Blue (9/2 Betfred, BetVictor – BOG)
