Kailani looks cracking value at 11/1 in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot today (3.05).
The filly looked a highly promising sort when winning on her sole run as a juvenile at Yarmouth, and confirmed that impression when bolting up on her reappearance at Newmarket back in May.
She slammed Hazel Lavery by 7 lengths on soft ground, and was sent off a heavily backed 6/1 shot for the Oaks on the back of it.
However nothing went right for her at Epsom, where she was very badly hampered early doors and then patently failed to come down the hill when attempting to make ground from the rear.
In the end she kept on to finish a 6 length 7th of 12 to Was, but it was clear that the unique undulations of the track were totally against her.
I think she will prove a different proposition now back on a more conventional galloping track, and am convinced that she is a filly with bags of ability who we are yet to see the best of.
Godolphin have yet to get on the score board, but I think she rates on of the best chances of the week for the Boys in Blue, and with Mikael Barzalona in the saddle she definitely has the right man on-board for the big occasion.
I had her priced up at no bigger than 7s, so at 11/1 she looks terrific each-way value.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts each-way Kailani (11/1 Hills, Paddy Power – BOG)
