Camron De Chaillac looks decent value at 14/1 in the 3.00 at Worcseter today.
Nigel Hawkes’ charge had three quick run over hurdles to qualify him for a mark and hinted that there could be better to come in the last of those at Chepstow when fifth of eight to Charlemar.
After being held-up, the four-year-old made good headway from four out before hitting the last and keeping on at the one pace under tender handling to be beaten six lengths.
The winner is a useful sort who has gone on to score again since, the runner-up Orchard Park had some solid form going into the race and the third home Criq Eock went on tofinish runner-up in two hot contests at Ascot – beaten just a short-head by the highly regarded Topofthegame in the last of those.
That gave the form a solid look and Camron De Chaillac ran really well of opening mark of 107 when third of 15 to Reilly’s Minor at Taunton back in December.
He travelled strongly and made a mistake at the last before being beaten just 3 1/2 lengths.
The selection also ran well two starts back when runner-up to Sea Wall at Plumpton off 109 and the winner has won twice since and finished a solid second in a decnet handicap at Newbury off 120.
Camron De Chaillic is now able to race off 1lb lower and that makes him a big player on the pick of hos form.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Camron De Chaillac (14/1 bet365, Ladbrokes – BOG)
