Captain Bob doesn’t look overly burdened on his handicap debut in the 3.15 at Chester today and is strongly fancied at 6/1 to make it a winning one.

Charlie Hills’ charge has some useful placed efforts to his name as a juvenile, including when  second of 10 to Meteoroid over 7f at Warwick where he attempted to make all and went down by just a 1/2 length.

The third home that day, Chatez, has gone on to score twice since – including a handicap at Epsom off an opeing  mark of 78 – and is now officially rated 86.

That suggests that Captain Bob, who beat Chatez a neck, looks to have been given a real chance by the handicapper off an opening mark of just 79.

The son of Dark Angel also comes into the contest on the back of a win over 7f at Warwick where he made virtually all to score with more in hand than the winning margin of a length suggests.

The way he was finishing off that contest suggests that the step up to today’s mile trip will suit, and his style of running could make him extrenely difficult to peg back and pass on this track.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Captain Bob (6/1 Sky Bet – BOG)
