Cheltenham Festival Day 2: Dolos the each-way wager in Fred Winter

Posted on by Dave Metcalf

Dolos looks nicely treated and well worth an each-way wager at 12/1 in the Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle on the second day of the Cheltenham Festival (16.50).

The ex French trained gelding made an impressive UK debut for paul Nicholls when romping to a facile six lengtn success at Chepstow and was then far from disgraced when third in a Grade 1 at Auteuil in France.

Dolos has since has just two outings, finishing third to Triumph Hurdle favourite Defi Du Seuil at Chepstow before occupying the same position behind Air Horse One in a 2m 1f novice hurdle at Taunton.

The four-year-old was sent off the 11/10 favouite fo the latter and after a mistake three out stuck to the task well to be beaten 7 1/2 lengths.

Air Horse One has since gone on to land a valuable 16-runenr handicap at Ascot to be rated 140 and the seconnd home The Unit has also gone on to taste success to be rated the same.

It represents very strong form and suggests Dolos is capable of running a huge race in this off a rating of 134.

He also appears to have been laid out for the contest by Nicholls who has has won the race a record three-times courtesy of Sanctuaire (2010), Qualando (2015) and Diego du Charmil (2016).

Daily Sport recommended bet – posted on twitter 3.50pm 14/03/17: 2pts each-way Dolos (12/1 BetVictor, Sky Bet – BOG)
