Irish raider Peregrine Run looks to have plenty going for him Coral Cup on day two of the Cheltenham Festival (2.50) and worth a punt at 10/1.
Peter Fahey’s seven-year-old has improved at a rate of knots of late and won four of his last five races.
The last of those successes came over course and distance where Peregrine Run beat Wholestone in a Grade 2 contest by a length.
It was an impressive performance and the runner-up has since gone on to land two Grade 2 affairs to be rated 145.
The third home West Approach, who was beaten a total of 4 1/2 lengths, has also given the form a boost by finishing third to Unowhatimeanharry in the Grade 2 Cleeve Hurdle.
Given that West Approach is now rated 157 it makes Peregrine Run’s current handicap mark of 142 look very exploitable.
He is also a strong travelling sort with a useful turn of foot, has his ideal underfoot conditions and looks to have the perfect profile for the race.
