Cornborough is on a handy mark at present and with underfoot conditions to suit rates a solid bet at 11/4 in the 5.15 at Nottingham today now eased in grade.

Mark Walford’s gelding is lightly-raced for a four-year-old having had just 11 starts – winning once and finishing in the frame on four ocassions.

After winning on debut at Redcar on good-to-soft ground, he went on to finish a fine third in an apprentice handicap at Doncaster last October on soft ground off a mark of 74 when keeping on well.

Cornborough is now able to race off 70, having returned to form and finished in the frame in three of his last four starts.

On his penultimate outing he travelled strongly but got no luck in-running before staying on well to finish a never nearer 1 3/4 length third of 12 to Woody Bay in a class 4 contest at Haydock.

That run suggested his time was near, and the winner hs come out and scored again since to give the form a solid look.

Cornborough also ran well last time out when fifth in 1m class 4 contest at Pontefract, and now drops donw into class 5 company.

The step up to 1m 2falso promises to suit, and this looks a great opening for him to get back to winning ways.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 4pts win Cornborough (11/4 generally available – use BOG firms)
