Gulf Of Poets is back down to a handy mark and makes plenty of appeal at 7/1 in the 4.45 at Beverley today now returned to the scene of his sole success.

Mick Easterby’s gelding won over course and distance bavk in April when coming from off the pace to land a class 5 contest by 1/2 a length off a mark of 73 and went on to finish a solid fourth in a class 4 contest at Leicester and third in a class 3 at Ripon off 77.

He now returns to class 5 company, in which he is 1-1, and is now able to race off 74.

That is just 1lb higher than when last successful and gives him every chance at the weights in what looks a winnable contest.

He also has the services of Nathan Evans in the saddle who partenred him to his last sucess and takes off another 5lb with his claim.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Gulf Of Poets (7/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
