Lord Clenaghcastle looks to hold leading claims of retaining his crown in today’s Brighton Challenge Tropy Handciap (3.10) and worth a punt to do so at 6/1.
Gary Moore’s charge landed the spoils in ready fashion 12 months ago when only having to be ridden out to beat Pendo by a comfortable two lengths off a mark of 77.
He backed that up with a solid second at Epsom off 82 and is now able to race off 79 having returned to winning wasy last time out over 7f at this venue when scoring by a neck.
A 2lb rise for that looks lenient and makes Lord Clengahcastle look nicely treated on the pick of his form at a venue where he has won twice and been placed twice from five starts.
The unique venue clearly brings out the best in him and he also goes well for Hector Crouch who has a 36 per cent strike rate on him (four wins and two places from 11 rides).
Moore also does well with his runners at the seaside track so there is nothing not to like about the chances of Lord Clenaghcastle in this.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Lord Clenaghcastle (6/1 Betfair – BOG)
