Colibri was not at his best last time out but looks worth another chance at 12/1 to build on a promising seasonal reappearance run in the 3.00 at Newmarket today.
Hugo Palmer’s colt, who bolted up by 12 lengths at Brighton on his final start as a juvenile, found the lighening fast ground against him at Royal Ascot but had previously finished a staying on 3/4 of a length fourth to Atty Perse in the Esher Cup at Sandown.
He was carried out wide and didn’t get the best of runs and it was very promising effort in a traditionally hot contest which has worked out well.
The winner is a highly regarded sort who has since landed the King George V Stakes at Royal Ascot whilst the runner-up Mucho Applause has since finished a fine second in the valuable London Gold Cup at Newbury
Juanito Chico, who finished fifth, has also won since to give the form a rock solid look.
Judge on that run a mark of 93 should not be beyong Colibri and the good ground at headquaters will suit him far better than last time out.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Colibri (12/1 BetVictor, Boylesports, William Hill – BOG)
