Coolminx has slipped back down to her last winning mark and makes plenty of appeal at 8/1 in the 2.00 at Newmarket having shaped encouragingly last time out.
Richard Fahey’s mare is useful on her day as she showed when beating Jeannie Galloway by a short-head in last year’s Ayr Bronze Cup off a mark of 83 on good-to-soft ground.
Two starts prior to that she had romped home on heavy going at Newcastle to beat Beckermet by 3 1/2 lengths, and all her best form is when there has been give underfoot.
The five-year-old really caught the eye four starts back at York when keeping on well to finish a close up 6th of 19 to Secret witness, and she then ran very well last time out from a woeful draw when 7th of 13 to Pearl Ice at Ripon.
She then threw in a stinker at York but quickly showed that running to be all wrong when keeping on well to finish 4th of 8 to Spinatrix at Pontefract last time up after being outpaced at half way.
Having started the season off on a mark of 89 the assessor has now relented a bit and dropped her 6lbs and she is now well-treated enough to do herself justice
The conditions will certainly hold no fears for her whatsoever, and I think she is overpriced at 8/1.
