Copper Knight bounced back to form when runner-up on debut for trainer Tim Easterby and looks worth a punt at 7/1 in the 5f handicap at Chester today (3.00).
He posted some solid efforts at Neamarket and Windsor on his first two starts last season for Hugo Palmer before landing the Lily Agnes at this meeting by two lengths.
Copper Knight looked sure to win more races judge on that victory but put in three stinking efforts to end the campaign on a low.
However, there was much more to like about his first run for Easterby at Ripon last month when showing plenty of pace before keeping on to be beaten 3/4 of a length by Jack Flash – with the pair pulling three lengths clear of the third.
That showed Copper Knight retained plenty of ability and if building on it he looks a big player in this off an unchanged mark of 87 from a decent draw in stall four.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Copper Knight (7/1 bet365 – BOG, 1/4 odds 1,2,3)
