Copper Knight looks decent each-way value at 12/1 in the City Wall Stakes at York today (4.15).
The gelding’s form tailed off badly after he landed the Lily Agnes Stakes at Chester last year when in the care of Hugo Palmer but has been rejuvenated this season since joining Tim Easterby,
After a promising second on seasonal reappearance he was ultra impressive in bagging two competitive handicaps.
Copper Knight showed blistering early pace in the first of those when scoring eased down by 2 1/4 lengths at Chester.
He then took apart an 1-runner handicap over course and distance when travelling strongly throughout and quickening clear to score by 1 1/4 lengths.
Copper Knight was then pitched back into Listed company and lost little in defeat when a 3 length third to Battaash in the Scurry Stakes at Sandown from a poor draw.
The winner has since gone on to break the course record when landing the Group 3 Coral Charge at the same venue and the runner-up Koropick has since landed a Group 3 at Newcastle.
That represents solid form and for me makes Copper Knight a big player in this.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Copper Knight (12/1 BetVictor, William Hill – BOG)
