Corner Creek taken to strike at Southwell

Corner Creek looks on a potenially handy mark at presemt and worth a punt in the 12.20 at Southwell today now fitted with cheekpieces for the first time.

The gelding was bought for £100,000 after winning his sole start in an Irish point at Toomebridge where he showed an impressive turn of foot on heavy ground to easily beat Kilgeel Hill by 4 lengths.

The runner-up is a nice sort who has since joined Oliver Sherwood and won twice as well as finishing third in a Grade 3 novice handicap hurdle off a mark of 125.

Corner Creek wnet on to finish a highly promising second in a bumper at Carlisle on debut for Michael Scudamore but has suffered a number of lengthy spells on the side lines since and failed to live up to expectations.

However, he showed that he retained plenty of ability when third on seseonal reappearance out at Uttoxeter, where he weakened late on and shaped as if needing the run, and was till in conention when falling at the 12th lst time out at Hexham.

The seven-year-old also has low mileage on the clock and is able to race off 94 having started life off in handicaps off 10lb higher.

It looks explotable, especially if the fitting of the new headgear has the desired effect.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Corner Creek (100/30  Betfred, Boylesports, Coral, Paddy Power – BOG)
