Corner Creek shaped well last time out and looks worth a wager at 5/1 to open his account under rules in the 3.40 at Hexham today.
The gelding was bought for £100,000 after winning his sole start in an Irish point at Toomebridge where he showed an impressive turn of foot on heavy ground to easily beat Kilgeel Hill by four lengths.
The runner-up is a nice sort who has since joined Oliver Sherwood and won twice as well as finishing third in a Grade 3 novice handicap hurdle off a mark of 125.
Corner Creek wnet on to finish a highly promising second in a bumper at Carlisle on debut for Michael Scudamore but has suffered a number of lengthy spells on the side lines since and failed to live up to expectations.
However, he showed that he retained plenty of ability when third last time out at Uttoxeter where he weakened late on and shaped as if needing the run over 2m 6f.
That should have blown awayu the cobwebs and the step up to 3m looks sure to suit.
The seven-year-old also has low mileage on the clockc and has since been dropped another 2lb to 94 having started life off in handicaps off 10lb higher.
It looks explotable, especially if taking into account the 5lb claim of Patrick Cowley.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Corner Creek (5/1 generally available – use BOG firms)
