Coronet Cracker Owen and Symonds win

Posted on by Grant Miller

Last night saw another packed house for Mickey Helliet’s Hellraiser Promotions at London’s Coronet Theatre which was sponsored by Daily Sport and www.dailysportlotto.com when top of the bill Chas Symonds beat Darryl Still on points over 10 rounds 98-93 to claim the Southern Area Welterweight Title. Symonds who is a tough guy who just keeps coming forward was in control throughout and now hopes to get a re-match with Gavin Tait who he lost to in a close fight at the Coronet last year.

Chief Support was Carlshalton’s Tony Owen who beat Bulgarian Asan Yusdseinov on points over 8 rounds 80 -71 which was a good comeback for Owen having lost his only fight to date last time out at the Coronet to Ben Murphy who stopped him in 4 rounds.

Peckham Welter Johnny Garton claimed his first stoppage victory with a 4th round stoppage of durable South African journeyman Bheki Moyo. Garton now 4-0 much to the delight of his army of supporters.

The bill which was televised live on Eurosport was a cracker with great support for all the home fighters.

Results in brief – Craig Whyatt won points 40-38 over 4 rounds beating Sean Tribble, Robert Lloyd-Taylor beat Kevin McCauley with McCauley getting point deducted in the 3rd and both scoring a knockdown in the 5th, Ricky Boylan beat a durable Jason Nesbitt on points 60-54 over 6 rounds, Lewis Pettitt stopped Mikheil Gogebashvili in 3 rounds dropping him twice in the opener and again in the 3rd, Lewis Pinto made his pro debut and beat Danny Dontchev on points over 4 rounds 40-35 dropping Dontchev in the 4th and Matt Goddard made his pro debut beating Pavel Senkovs on points over 4 rounds.

Daily Sport says – Great atmosphere at the Coronet as always with a great local turn out.
