As you may have noticed the Daily Sport is now your number one paper for all things pool, and this weekend sees the next big tournament on the IPA  (8-ball) calendar.

The UK Open and Amateur events see over a hundred quality players descend on the Britannia Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool for 18 tables worth of blackball action, once again proving that this attacking rule set played around the pool world is certainly the one to be with in the United Kingdom as well.

Simon Ward – started the weekend in blistering form

Well known players such as ex World Champion Jason Twist will be competing as well as recent World runner up Clint I’Anson, the ever reliable Ronan McCarthy, Welsh stars Jordan Shepherd, Ben Davies and Craig Marsh, rankings leader Gareth Hibbott,  young talent Simon Ward – the list is endless and the beauty of this game is, there is no guarantee whatsoever I have even named the winner as yet!

Three days of live action, with the weekend livestreamed free of charge via www.ipapool.com from Saturday afternoon all the way to the final, and spectators warmly welcomed free as well, means a pool bonanza for the local players and any others in attendance, and I have been promised some of the best pool imaginable (and they have never let me down in the past), so if you like or play the game, why not tune in and see how the experts get on – or just keep up to date with the latest news via Twitter (@ipapool) or join in on Facebook, and interact with the biggest pool community in the UK, and one that is growing day by day?

Full review after the event’s conclusion!
