Darceys Dancer has been given a massive chance by the handicapper and is of major interest at 11/2 in the 4.25 at Ludlow today.
Evan Williams’ charge was a decent sort in Ireland, where he scored three times and was placed behind the likes of Loosen My Load and Torpichen.
He ran a blinder for his current yard when third behind Anquetta in a Grade 1 listed handicap at Ascot last October off a mark of 125 and although he has failed to trouble the judge since then he is now 18lb lower in the weights.
That gives him an outstanding chance from a handicapping perspective, and he really caught the eye last time out when staying on late to finish fourth of 7 to Hellfire Club at Newbury.
Although beaten 32 lengths the nine-year-old was never ut into the race at any stage after a mistake at the first and stayed on well on the flat under hands and heels with plenty of running left in him.
That run came over 2m 1f and the step up in trip to 2m 4f this afternoon looks sure to suit.
With Adam Wedge in the saddle and taking another 3lb off his back he looks potentially chucked-in, and this represents a glorious chance from him to open his account in this country.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Darceys Dancer (11/2 Ladbrokes, Paddy Power – BOG)
