Daniel Thomas looks to have plenty going for him in the 7.55 at Kempton this evening and at 13/2 rates the best bet on the card.

The gelding has been a grand servent over the years and bounced back to form to take advanatge of his lenient handicap mark when scoring at Wolverhampton on his penultimnate start.

Anne Stokell’s charge came with a steady run from off the pace that day and after leading at the furlong marker pulled clear to beat Stranlow by 2 lengths off a mark of 47 despite hanging badly right.

The runner-up has since come out and scored at Lingfield to give the form a solid look, and although the selection could finish only fifth of 13 to Sutton Sid last time out off 6lb higher (53) over 1m 2f he ran far better than his finishing position suggests.

The 12-year-old was never put in the contest with a chance at any stage by William Carson before staying on late under tender handling to be beaten 5 1/4 length having been set an impossible task.

The drop back to a mile is likely to see him in a far better light, and he remains on a handy mark off 52 as prior to his ready win at Wolverhampton his previous success had come off 55.

Another plus is that he is a course and distance winner, and in a race which could well be run to suit he looks sure to take all the beating granted luck in running.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Daniel Thomas (13/2 BetVictor, Hills, Paddy Power – BOG)
