Castilo Del Diablo will appreciate the drop back in trip in the 8.50 at Kempton this evening and is strongly fancied at 15/2 to maintain his 100%record at the track.

David Simcock’s charge is a useful sort at his best who shaped with plenty of promise before opening his account in good style when scoring at Newamrket last august.

The son of Teofilo took a keen hold that day at the rear of the field but made smooth headway three from home to take up the running at the two marker and powered clear to beat Enthusiastic by 2 3/4 lengths despite still showing signs of inexperience and hanging left and right.

He went on to beat Nordic Quest over course and distance two starts later off a mark of 81, where he showed a good turn of foot and scored with much more in hand than the winning margin of 1 1/4 lengths suggests.

The four-year-old was then off the track for 199 days before shaping really well on his seasonal reappearance over 1m 6f at Salisbury where he stayed on from well off the pace to finish a never nearer fifth of 13 to Sun central off a mark of 86.

He then found the step up in trip to 2m too far when finishing sixth of 14 to De Rigeur at Haydock last time out, making good headway three from home before weakening inside the last as his stamina gave way.

The handicapper has since dropped him another 1lb to a mark of 84, and he should be very competitive of that judged on his last success over course and distance.

The drop back to 1m 4f is sure to see him in far better light, and with Jim Crowley in the saddle and cheekpieces fitted for the first time he rates the best bet on the card.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Castilo Del Diablo (15/2 BetVictor – BOG)
