Distant Past has looks nicely treated on the pick of his form and worth a wager at 9/1 in the 3.30 at Leicester today.

Kevin Ryan’s charge was last successful at Musselbrugh 15 months ago when scoring by 1 3/4 lengths off a mark of 85 anad went on to finish a fine 3/4 length runner-up to Midlander in a class 2 contest at Ascot off 91.

The five-year-old is now able to race in this lower grade class 3 contest off 83, 2lb lower than when last successful, having run a cracker to finish third of 19 to Perfect Cracker in the Scurry at the Curragh when last seen in action.

Distant Past had to make his challenge away from the main group in the latter and it was a really solid effort in what was a very competitive contest which has thrown up plenty of subsequent winners.

This respresents a slight drop in class and if building on that effort Distant Past looks weighted to run a huge race.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Distant Past (9/1 BetVictor, Ladbrokes, Sky Bet, William Hill – BOG)
