Southern Area Middleweight champ Billy Joe Saunders took the vacant commonwealth title at the Royal Albert Hall stopping Tony Hill in just 30 seconds. Hill who struggled to make the weight didn’t even get started as Saunders landed a barrage of shots and the ref stepped in to call a halt to the action.
You can’t fault Saunders performance but he’ll need to fight better opponents than Hill if he’s to be a threat to the top Middleweights in the world.
Also on the bill was Enfield Super-Middleweight Frank Buglioni in his 4th pro outing and he stopped Daniel Borisov in the 1st round with 3 knock downs in a row the ref stepped in.
Sam Webb 18-2, 5KO’s got a split decision over Matthew Hall 24-5, 16 KO’s in a 12 round eliminator for the British Light-Middleweight title with the scores 115-114 and 116-112 for Webb and 117-112 for Hall.
Also on the bill Welterweight Dean Byrne suffered a second successive loss on points over 8 rounds top Terry Holmes with the Byrne camp throwing the towel in in the 5th only for the ref to kick the towel out and let the fight go on.
Daily Sport says – A quick nights work for Saunders.
