Esprit Danseur has been shaping as if ready to strike and makes plenty of appeal at 16/1 in the finale at Brighton (5.30).
Jim Boyle’s filly shaped well on her debut last year when third of 8 to Kyanight at Sandown and went on to finish a creditable 6th of 16 to Cockney Dancer at Windsor next time up over 6f where she led until weakening a furlong from home.
The runner-up in that contest, Ladyship, went on to finish third to the very useful Moonstone Magic at Leicester before opening her account in good style at that track yesterday off an official rating of 79.
The selection then ran below pair in her final two starts of 2011, but has shown enough in two starts on the polytrack recently to suggest she is capable of playing a leading role in this off a mark of just 59.
The daughter of Invincible Spirit stayed on without ever threatening to finish 4th of 16 to Larwood at Kempton over 6f off 68 and then again caught the eye when keeping on steadily to finish 6th of 12 to Boudoir at Lingfield over 7f last time out when fluffing the start.
That run came off 66, and the handicapper has given here real chance by dropping her 7lb given that she is just as effective on turf.
She should now be spot on to do herself justice and connections have found her a weak looking race to take advantage of the assessor’s leniency.
Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts each-way Esprit Danseur (16/1 Paddy Power – BOG, Skybet, Stan James)
