Fastar looks worth a wager at 11/2 in the 3.55 at Sandown today now reunited with Charles Bishop.

Brian Meehan’s charge enjoyed a productive 2017 when winning three times, rounding off the campaign with back-to-back successes at Sandown and Haydock – both under Bishop.

The last of those came off a mark of 83 and although now 4lb higher in the weights he ran a cracker off 90 on return to action over course and distance where he raced keenly before keeping on to finish a 2 3/4 length fourth of 13 to Chiefofchiefs in a class 3.

Fastar backed that up with a solid effort in a class 2 affair at Newcastle off the same rating when sixth of 15 to Humbert where he held every chance inside the final furlong before weakening late on to be beaten just over a length.

He then ran too bad to be true when last of five on the poltrack at Chelmsford before running well to be fourth at Chester and was far from disgraced last time out when seventh of 13 at Newmarket.

Off his current rating a repeat of his aforementioned effort here would be good enough to see him win this weaker looking class 3 affair and it looks signifcant that Bishop who is 2-2 on him is now back in the plate on ground which is ideal for Faster.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 2pts win Fastar (11/2 bet365, Betfair, Paddy Power – BOG)
