Lexington Bay has an excellent record at Southwell and makes plenty of appeal at 11/2 in the 2.40 there today having fallen below his last winning mark.

Richard Fahey’s charge was won two of his three starts on the fibresand surface and finsihed runner-up on the other occasion.

His last win came over 1m 6f at the track last marxch where he stayed on strongly to beat Northside Prince by a neck off amark of 79.

Since then he has mainly been campaigned on the polytrack surface at Kempton and Wolverhampton, and ran with credit to finish in the frame in fourth of his last 5 starts – including off a mark of 81.

The handicapper has now cut him some slack, and he gets into this off 77 – 2lb lower than when last successful.

That gives himn a big shout at the weights, especially now returned to this venue.

It’s also interesting that connections are now refitting him with the cheekpieces which he wore when last successful here, and although he has yet to win here over today’s trip of 1m 4f he has won twice over it on the turf.

Daily Sport recommended bet: 3pts win Lexington Bay (11/2 Betfred – BOG)
