BoxNation provides us with a live world title fight tonight when Derry Matthews faces off against Emiliano Marsili (9pm), and we could be in for some explosive action.

Matthews has rebuilt his career quite well since a shock run of three defeats back in 2009, when to me it looked like had had lost his motivation and love for the game.

However the old spark now seems to be back and he has looked better than ever in beating the likes of Scott Lawton, Gary McCarthur and the Mongolian Choi since losing to British and Commonwealth lightweight kingpin Gary Buckland in the final of lightweight prizefighter.

I have a watched a few fights of his opponent Marsili who is uncharacteristic for an Italian boxer. He doesn’t appear to have much much in the way of style, and just wants to get into range and wing away with clubbing shots.

That means that Matthews will have to be ready for a war because that is what Marsili will definitely have as his game plan.

I’m not sure whether he will be able to cope with the likely onslaught from Marsili, and that makes the fight not to go the distance look an attractive punt at the odds on offer.

Daily Sport recommended bets:

1pt Marsili to win between rounds 1-12 – 6/1 Sky Bet
4pts fight not to go the distance – 6/5 Ladbrokes
